What it is really like to live with HIV? - Take Part

As someone who has come into contact with the South London HIV Partnership we are asking if you would like the chance to explain what it is really like to live with HIV, by taking part in a short filmed interview. The interviews will be used to help people who commission and deliver HIV services — like advice and advocacy, counselling, health support and peer support — to understand what it is really like to live with HIV and what your experience has been of contacting services through the South London HIV Partnership.

Where will the films be used?

The films will be available on this website (South London HIV Partnership slhp.org.uk ) so that means they can be viewed from anywhere over the internet. They may also be used at South London HIV Partnership events for helping explain and demonstrate the services available to people living with HIV.

Do I have to identify myself?

You do not need to give your real or full name, but we are looking for people who are willing to go on camera, so if someone knows you and sees the film they would be able to recognise you.

What will the filming be like?

The filming will take place in an ordinary office with just 2 or 3 people from our filming team involved. We would like to ask you a few questions about living with HIV and the experiences you have had with services through the South London HIV Partnership. Most of all we want to give you the chance to tell your story and get across things that are important to you.

Where will the filming take place?

We are filming in an office in South London, and we can arrange transport to and from the filming for you if needed. We can also provide a small fee to cover your out of pocket expenses in the form of a £20 shopping voucher.

What if I start filming and change my mind?

If you start to take part, and for whatever reason feel that you want to change your mind that is fine. Just let us know and we will stop immediately and not use any of the filming we have carried out with you and we will destroy the original filming. You will have up to 1 week after we finish filming to tell us you have changed your mind and do not want your filming to be used and we will destroy the film without it ever been shown.

What if I am possibly interested but not really sure?

If you would like more information get in touch with First Point and they can answer many of your questions. If you think you might want to go ahead, someone from First Point will ask if you agree to our filming team getting in contact with you. If you say yes, you can have a telephone discussion with our filming team and they will answer any specific questions you have. If at that point you still want to continue with the filming we will arrange a date and time with you.

If I start finding out about filming do I have to go ahead with it?

No, if having heard more about the filming you decide it is not for you then we just stop there and nothing else happens.

Could I be interviewed, but not show my face?

We are also looking for some interviews which will be tape recorded (just sound no video) so yes we can interview you without filming, but most of all we are looking for people who are able to go on camera.

How long does the filming take

Filming usually takes between 1 and 3 hours with several short breaks where you can relax during this time. If you need a break at any time just let us know and we will stop for as long as you need.
